Update on All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood

Benesse UK are delighted to work with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood.

At the meeting on Wednesday 29 November, Tom Gibbons from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) described the role of the LTA and the Tennis Foundation and gave some practical examples of projects.

There is a joint strategy between the LTA and the Tennis Foundation to widen participation. Many young people play tennis already, but the target is to double the amount in the next 10 years.

An example of some of the programmes directed at children and young people are:

  • Tennis in Schools

  • Tennis for People with Disabilities

  • The Social Impact Programme

  • Tennis for Families

Also speaking at the meeting were two young adults, Thomas Munnelly and Isabelle Kennedy, who spoke of their positive experiences of Slimming World.

The meeting was chaired by Baroness Benjamin.
